Homer Ambassadors

Representatives are chosen from each class throughout the school year. They are involved in decision-making, promoting school pride, school safety, parental communication, and school improvements.
They also act as liaisons in dealing with peer conflicts and encourage community involvement in our student body.

Gifted Education

Homer Schools’ Gifted Program aims to provide activities that stress higher-level thinking skills to motivate and challenge gifted students to achieve their full potential.  Screening for potential candidates for the gifted program begins in second grade.  Criteria evaluation procedures used to identify possible candidates include teacher referral, parent referral, academic performance in the classroom, and standardized tests. Students identified in grades must score 97% or above on the total battery of a nationally standardized achievement test or
intelligence test.  A placement committee reviews all data on students.

STEM Education

We implement PLTW’s  (Project Lead the Way) Launch Curriculum Pre-K through 3rd grade.    This curriculum taps into students’ exploratory nature, engages them in learning that feels like play, and encourages them to keep discovering – now and for any future they choose.

We proudly announce that our school received recognition from PLTW as a 2023 – 2024 Distinguished Launch School.   PLTW recognizes schools across the United States for their efforts to provide broad access to transformative learning experiences for students through  Project Lead the Way Launch programs, an elementary STEM curriculum.  Our school has shown a great commitment to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their programs.  You can click on the image to see the list of schools in the United States that received this award.
